Grants from the Heart | 2024

At CFF, we honor our hearts with our Grants from the Heart fund. Yearly, we award grants of $10,000 or more to small, locally focused non-profits. These grants support those organizations having an immediate impact on the lives they touch. Using the MacKenzie Scott philosophy, we give these grants believing in each organization’s ability to deploy the money where and how they need it.

The Grants from the Heart program of the Cinelli Family Foundation supports nonprofits who:

  • help cancer patients and their families as they are dealing with the challenges of cancer; OR

  • assist kids in succeeding in school with the goal of getting them into college or trade schools.

The mission of BabyJay’s Legacy of Hope is to provide direct financial and emotional support to families during their child's battle with Pediatric cancer. BabyJay's helps relieve emotional and financial stress, allowing the family to focus more on their child during their cancer journey. BabyJay's Helps with most things insurance doesn't cover, such as gas, food, utilities, transportation, and housing. We are always a chat or a phone call away for parents throughout the child's battle.

Bishop Miege High School, a Catholic community of faith, strives to develop the potential of our students through spiritual growth, academic success and stewardship. Since 2019 Bishop Miege has focused on providing an inclusive education to all of God's children. As a result, about 20% of our enrollment has learning differences. Their age appropriate sensory room provides social, emotional and physical relief for these students when needed.

Chemo Buddies.jpeg

Chemo Buddies gives hope and encouragement to those who are going through cancer treatment. Their mission is to ensure that no one goes through chemo alone: they are in every local treatment room every single day in support of the friends in the recliners, their friends and loved ones, and sometimes even the staff people needing a little extra TLC. In addition to the volunteers in the treatment room, they provide positive, uplifting experiences to everyone impacted by cancer.

The Hope Center KC provides programming for 200 students (K - 12th grade) throughout the year. Through asset-based programming The Hope Center celebrates and honors each of our children, youth and families as we focus on their individual strengths. For all programs, we quantifiably measure the impact we are having in the lives of our students through staff assessment and self-assessment surveys. Each year, we see increases in our students' measurement of their personal internal and external assets.

The LMH Health Foundatation's Catch a Break Fund helps cancer patients and survivors in our community pay for day-to-day needs like medications, car repairs, utilities and food. Support is given for day-to-day living expenses for food, utilities and rent. It is intended for survivors currently in or within one year of completing treatment with a financial need not to exceed $300.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation’s mission is to empower people to stay ahead of cancer through prevention and early detection.  It is the only US-based nonprofit organization solely dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection. They focus on research, education, outreach and advocacy. Their vision is a world where cancer is preventable, detectable and beatable for all. The foundation supports research into early detection of cancer.

STOMP Out Bullying works to reduce and prevent bullying, cyberbullying and other digital abuse. It educates against LGBTQ+ discrimination and racism and hatred; and it deters violence in schools, online and in communities across the country. It provides help for those in need and at risk of suicide, and raises awareness through peer mentoring programs in schools, public service announcements by noted celebrities and social media campaigns.

Stand for the Silent has fast become one of the leading and most effective anti-bullying organizations. Our mission is simple: bring awareness to bullying and the real devastation it causes. Stand for the Silent runs solely off generous donations from those who support our mission.  Stand for the Silent has traveled around the world talking to thousands of schools, community centers, churches and organizations. We will not stop until each and every person has heard about the effects of bullying.

touch Inc_edited.jpg

Touch Inc. provides non-medical financial assistance for cancer patients. While Touch Inc. cannot alleviate the burden of medical expenses, they firmly believe that the everyday challenges should not add to the struggle. That’s why they step in to assist with those regular, but often overlooked, costs such as transportation, utilities, childcare, housing and other out-of-pocket costs; expenses that cancer patients find themselves unable to manage due to their diagnosis.

Youth First exists to transform and strengthen the lives of young people and their families. We are the only organization that provides Masters level social workers in area schools and prevention programs for youth and families. On-site, free of charge behavioral health services and programs prevent substance abuse, improve family relationships and develop life skills.
